Messiah2 v1.3 scex problem

After install of a Messiah2 v1.3 in a version5 PS2, I found out that ps1 backups didn?t boot. After visual wire check I found the scex wire connect on the other leg of the resistor. I fixed it to the original point. From this fix on there is no boot at all. After pressing reset the screen show the configuration - language select, time zone adj etc.. In the same time the CD or DVD is spinning in very high speed until turn off the machine. Next I disconnected the scex wire and checked again, it was back to the original problem, ps1 backups don?t boot. I checked with multimeter the resistor and no damage; I have the same reading like more 104 resistors on the board.
I'd like to here if anybody have an idea before trying to replace the modchip.

i'ver heard cases of bridgeing the two resistors to get psx to work with the scex wire connected
