Messiah2 stopped working after 6 months
I just thought I would share my experience so that others searching on the same topic might be helped.
Specifics:
v3 console with Messiah2 v1.08 installed about 6 months ago. Console worked perfectly up until a few days ago.
Symptoms:
All PS1 originals and backups load successfully.
PS2 originals load successfully.
No PS2 backups load (CD or DVD)...goes to RSOD.
Now, with the cover off the console and listening carefully to the laser as a disk is booted, it was very obvious that it had nothing to do with problems reading the disk. If you have listened carefully to a disk boot, you know what I mean. Right when the disk is about to boot (the sound indicates that the console has seen the disk and was able to focus) it goes to RSOD. This lead me to believe that possibly the Messiah2 had failed because the console was obviously unable to authenticate the disk. Ordered another Messiah2 v1.33. Installed the new chip and got the same result. Now, I know that it is not the chip. After reading the troubleshooting documentation on the install guide for my console at www.messiah2.com, I narrowed the search to wires A-I. Sure enough, the A wire had come loose. Re-soldered and everything is back to normal
