hi, i search some info about pins on messiah and magic. For example, neo4 pins:
Pins 1-11 are Address Lines
Pins 12-20 are Data Lines
Pin 21 is Chip Enable for the PS2 ROM
Pins 22-32 are Address Lines
Pin 33 is the PS2 Chip Enable signal
Pin 34 is SCEE Management (SCEX Signal)
Pin 35 is Clock Signal
Pin 36 is +5 Volt
Pin 37 is Earth (Ground)
Pin 38 is BA Pin2 (tray direction open / close)
Pin 39 is BA Pin1 (tray direction open / close)
Pin 40 is Eject Detect
Pin 41 is Tray-Motor Enable
Pin 42 is Macrovision 1
Pin 43 is Macrovision 2
Pin 44 is PS2 Output Enable
Somebody have this info for messiah and/or magic pins¿?
thanks.

A = OE# or CE# of the CDDVD controller
In other words, if it's pulled low then data can be read / written from / to the CDDVD databus interface (pins B - I). Yes, it's bi-directional. It works with command 'packets'. Compare it with an IDE interface.

then databus and address bus are the same pins on cd/dvd and bios??
and bios pins are bi-directional too?
if i understand, for read bios address bus, i need to pulled low "R" (messiah), and for read bios databus, i need to pulled low "W"?
if it's correct, and cd/dvd-bios bus are same as ide bus, for study and understand it, i can read info about ide bus?
thanks for your reply's.
P.D.=> sorry for my bad english.

As you might imagine, it's a bitmore complicated than that. For example, the V line on the Messiah is used to feed the video mode to the PS2 dependent on the type of game selected. The W wire on the Magic 2 is the readout of the disk type.
Each wire of the BIOS & CD/DVD Controller has a meaning at that level of detail.
In my troubleshooting guide I have listed the behaviour of some of the wires, in terms of their voltages under various conditions.
Enough said. The developers like to keep that stuff to themselves. Note that Rex (Gazza) didn't spew that stuff out; he might not know - I doubt that he originated the stuff he did put out with the Gerbers and the like.

I'm not so sure about that charlie, if any of the points to the bios is disconnected I would guess that no games at all work. I haven't tried it but that would be logical.

Isn't there a clock/read signal between M-W? It seems silly to add an extra wire for a redundant output disable (i.e. the CE#).
Charlie_PS2 stated that the Messiah 1 (M1) drew about 1/4A to 1/2A IIRC. That seems to me like a lot of current. Maybe the M1 is overriding the databusses on the PS2?

I think messiah biospatch is clocked from #OE.
Magic2 overrides databus that's way it gets hot (much power needed).
Just my opinion, I have not investigated it properly

Using OE# as a read counter seems perfectly reasonable.
BTW where did you get the pinout for the BIOS chip (i.e. D0-D7)?

By guessing
I compared to some other 16mbit flashchips (couldn't find any 32mbit). It's not likely Sony invented their own pinout.
