I am new to modchipping, but am pretty experienced with electronics repairs etc.

My daughter's boyfriend got a couple of Messiah 4.2 chips in Thailand, and I have been nominated to fit them to his and her V7 PAL machines.
After quite a bit of googling and forum viewing, I am none the wiser as I can find no reference to Messiah 4.2.
I guess the first question is whether or not this chip can even be fitted in a V7 PAL machine?
If it can be, is there a fitting diagram out there? The photocopied sheet that came with it is illegible although I can make out a reference to "For PS2 5000X, 5500X 3D (GH-026)" V9?? Would this automatically rule out V7 machines?

Can anyone shed some light on this for me please?
A daughter's faith in her father and street-cred with the boyfriend are at stake here.

Um, as far as I know; there aren't any Messiah 4.2's released anywhere. Maybe you're confusing the chip name with something else? Possibly you can provide us with a picture of it? Maybe then we can help identify what it really is.

Thanks for the response. I am only going on what is printed on the photocopied sheet that came with the chip, and the ID on the chip itself.

The heading on the sheet says:
    "Messiah4.2
    DVD+R/DVD-R/DVD-RW
    Support .Action Replay
    .Multi-Mode
    .Sleep Mode
    Auto detect Region and Version"

I have attached a picture which I hope will aid in identification.
    Thanks again.

Hope I'm not breaching any etiquette her, but I have a much clearer picture. Finally figured out how to work the macro mode.

Anyone have any idea what this chip is, and if it's suitable for a V7 PAL machine?

I wouldn't trust the quality of clones if I were you. I rather spend $30-40 extra and order myself 2 Duo 2 SE. They are proven reliable.

    Gooday T07N

So, is this chip a clone then?
Forgive me if the question is a silly one, but I am new to modchips and am trying to learn some basic details.
Is this chip essentially a counterfeit of a genuine Messiah?

I believe so yes. Not completely sure but I think those are one of the clones.
