  1. #1 Messiah 2 v7 NTSC Unable to fully close Case
    sikosane Guest
After about 2 weeks of owning a modded PS2 I still wasn't able to fully close the case. It used to be that when most of the screws were loose it worked. Now i had to remove all the screws holding the case together . When the case Is closed (screwed in)the DVD Drive doesn't eject and there is no bootup screen. What do you think might be causing this?

something is not in its right place.

if it doesnt boot when its fully closed, then something is snagged, most likely the reset/eject cable.

Mine is taped to the DVD Drive with the little white sticker that came with it, not sure how its holding though, however the wire does go through the little thingy on the side so it shouldn't be it.

try and find an assembly/disassembly guide, then try to match it with your ps2.

if your ps2 works fine with the screws a little bt loose, but the case is completely shut (no chance of dust getting in there) then there really isnt a problem.

but still try to get it shut flush.

Dust is really that big of an issue? I assembled it according to Charlie_Ps2 's guide.

    Sikosane,
The double sided tape needs to be thin - thinner than you've used I reckon. With no photograph it's difficult to be precise in determining this problem. Also as a precaution cover the red diode (not the Actel chp) in insulating tape.

The screws MUST be down tight or your PS2 could suffer quickly.

yes, dust. it will get all over your laser and it wont work very well.....then you'll have to take it apart again and clean it..... repeat once or twice every week. doesnt sound pleasent eh?

What brand and how thin? So i apply it to the bottom of the chip and that's it? It is positioned exactly as show in your install guide for v7.

    Jeez I get some questions.

How do I know what brand? Just thinner than you've used by the amount needed to close the metal cage and screw it all togethe tight.

Forgive my little outburst but position it exactly....? If you're worried, look at the metal cage, look at the Messiah, look at the motherboard and decide for yourself where yo put it in the approximate area I've indicated.

I used 3M brand 2-sided foam tape. If you're in the USA, you can find it at most hardware stores (Home Depot, Lowes, etc), typically in the paint supplies area.

The one I used comes in little precut squares and it's thickness is slightly more than a CDR width.

I opted to place my M2 here (thanks Necrolop) and my PS2 closes fine.
