Is this chip compatible with a V7 Ps2 Unit????????
Indeed, just not US v6's.
kool thanks alot man!!
well i installed it into there V7 Perfect and booted it up kept gettin red screen of death. I check all points with Multi meter and even resoldered them/ Still RSOD! I have 3 Messiah 1.07 chips. I think there all fake or duds. Pisses me off. i tryed another one RSOD!! Yes the track is Cut on the back. I have 3 Magic 3.1 here too. so i tossed it in usin the same wires as the messiah had except the W and CLCK and that that i had to move. Turned on the ps2 and it booted.
So did i get a Bad Batch of Older Messiahs??? Or am i missing somthing.
Did you use twisted pair wire for the clock (clk) wire (running the extra wire to ground on both sides)? Also, make sure the ground is short and power is thicker gauge wire. The Messiah 2 is a bit more picky with wiring then some other chips, especially on the clock wire. I doubt you have three bad chips (unless they are clones) but it's possible.
Twisted Pair wire???? What do u mean i just followed the general instructions didnt see that. I used AWG 22 Gauge for power and ground. Have a example of the twisted pairOriginally posted by madisonmods

Use one peice of wire from the clock point on the messiah 2 and the clock point on the board. Then get another peice of wire and wrap it tighly around the clock wire. solder each end of that wire onto ground, for one end you can just us the messiah 2 GRND point, and the other end solder it to the copper edge of the board. That will sheild it from interference, and may be your problem.
Both the W and CLK wires are fundamental to the Messiah2 operation. Indeed one of the causes of RSOD is a misplaced W wire (or CLK) - I assume it's OK with originals.Originally posted by xxxbamxxx

So if you moved W and it was right on the Magic but wrong on the Messiah .......
Just a possibility based on what you've written.
I followed Your Instructions Charlie Exactly like you had them. When i installed the Magic3 i had to move the W point to its Spot.
Like the ps2 worked still when the chip was in but it was like the Messiah wasnt even on. Ill try it out on my next mod. thnx guys
