BIOS points probably.
i took the ps2 apart and inspected the points and they look good but i did notice one thing. it seemes he used the same wire for ground/voltage as he did for everything else could this possible cause the no data or should i be looking for something else?
Coud be. It should be thicker wire and he should thus have followed the install guide. Could also be the disk cables in the wrong way round or not correctly seated. That's easily done.
i did show him the install guide and i belive he used it.(dont see how u could not use it) i'l get him to replace the ground/voltage wire and double check everything and will see if it works.
ok i just put the whole thing back together(didn't change anthing) and now when i put in a disk i hear the drive working now(some clicks and some other noise) and then disk read error comes up on the screen.
For what it's worth, I found that the underside of the motherboard sits very tightly on the bottom plate. The CD controller chip wire connections must be very short from the casing and be quite flat or when you tighten all the screws, mainly the case, it will flatten them out and they can touch each other or even snap off the solder pad if not enough solder was used. The same could be said for the bios connections. Once you get the bottom and top plates on that Mobo, there is not much room for stray foreign wires.
