Wait, let me get this straight, the messiah 2 pro directly boots all ps2 and psx games. Does this mean that to backup a game, all you have to do is copy it whether the game has some type of copy protection or not and it will boot as long as the modchip has been installed right?

My v5 or v6 ps2 that I recently moded with a messiah 2 pro boots Okage, a ps2 cd game, but not Dynasty Warriors 2 which is another ps2 cd game. It, however, boots ps2 and psx originals as well as psx backups so does that mean that the modchip installation is faulty somehow or is this a case of a protected game?

    I'm confused...

Also the copy method matters. I advise you use CloneCD so that the copy protection, if present (like in EA games) carries across.

Part of the reason I'm baffled is because I used the same media and copying method for both games (Okage and Dynasty Warriors 2) and one works while the other doesn't so... I used CDRWin 3.8F to copy both games, I'll try CloneCD and Alcohol 120% as some people have recommended, only problem is my LG CED-8042B CDRW drive doesn't support things like RAW+96 reading, etc. I guess it's time I got a new one since they're cheap nowadays.

A dependable one is the LG GCE8160-B. There's cheap and common too. Before getting a new CDRW drive I recommend you at least try CloneCD. It's a brilliant program.

<FreeFrag> Thats why I recommend Telstra ADSL.

Okay, after purchasing a 2 sheep burner, the LiteOn LTR-52327S, and using Alcohol 120% (shareware) to backup Ico (PS2 CD-R game). The backup still does not work, I get the RSOD.

I used the Playstation 2 method in Alcohol 120% to create the image on the hd at maximum read speed and burned the image on 80min CURSOR CD-Rs, rated upto 16x burning speed, at 12x.

I used the same medium to backup PSX games and a PS2 CD-R game, Okage, and they all work. This is my 3rd try, previous methods used CDRWin and the LG CED-8042B as the burner. I'm getting frustrated.

Just an update, same thing happens to Tekken Tag Tournament backup. I get the RSOD.

I also used maximum read and burning speed for the PSX backups and that Okage game so I don't think slowing the read or burning speed will make a difference... But I suppose I could give it a try.

Can somebody who has successfully backed up one of these games (Ico or Tekken Tag Tournament) and has a messiah 2 pro v1.30 modchip installed, tell me the details on how exactly they backed up the game so that I may know whether it is the backup method or something else that isn't right like the modchip installation. Thank you.

I've gone back to my modchip installation and checked the wiring particularly on the bios--wires MNOP, I used a DMM to test for solder bridges and although I did not find any (most adjacent bios legs showed around 1.2 Ohms of resistance), I'm starting to doubt what consists of a short or how low does the resistance between 2 bios legs have to be in order to be considered as a short.
