Messiah 2 mount location

Was wondering if the messiah 2 must be mounted on the outside/cage of the ps2 similar to the Magic II installs. Or is it thin enough to fit underneath the steel cover?

The Messiah 2 will fit fine under the steel cover as the original Messiah did.
