I've just installeda messiah 2 on a v5 ps2 and everything works great apart from the audio is cracking and popping and dropping out.

It does this on all games original and backup ps1 & 2 and i disabled the chip but it makes no difference.

I installed it as per charlie ps2 instructions which are on messiah website

    can anyone help

This has been reported before but the solution was never posted by the person involved. It'll be something not put back correctly or something damaged or bridged in the intall. Maybe a solder ball behind the BIOS legs.

I took the chip back out last night and de soldered all the points and everything works ok now so it looks like a bad install possibly.

Could the chip be faulty at all?

I noticed before I took it out ps1 originals played ok with no sound problems

Do you know any installers in Birmingham UK?

p.s. thanks for the reply charlie

Same problems here on 2 different V5 with messiah 2.
Sound is distorted, intro sometimes echo's. High pitched whistle with some intro's. Sound dies after a few seconds of game booting.

I could suggest is to send it to a pro who can investigate (for a fee). We're in the Reading area.

I wouldn't question the Messiah chip, I learned the hardway

Anyway I'm from Birmingham and could take a look at it for you.

The Messiah team have released a diagram for a New clock signal, for troublesome v5/v6.

You should use this clock signal from now on!

ive seen this problem depending where you place the messiah and if you use double sided tape one of the caps is grounding to the grounding plate above quick fix is to turn over the plate and whack a bit of electrical tape on the plate but dont place any on the messiah itself we dont want any overheating i noticed this if you placed the messiah beside the bios it solved the problem for me but i aso used a shorter wire on the clk pin this does only seem to happen on the v5 its either placement or the clock signal causing the problem.

I think I know what you mean EnTiTy, but this is a known problem with the Messiah2 and v5 consoles. it has been comfirmed by mutiple installers.

The new clock signal, does fix this problem. It is also a good idea to keep the clock wire as short as possible on all installs.

the new clock point does not even work for me at all it makes the ps2 red screen and the messiah 2 is only an inch away from this point i find it better go stright to the leg on the large ic instead of the original point.
