I've got a v7 ps2 and i'm currently using *i think* an Ice magic or a magic 3.1 (the guy that installed it said it's a variation of the magic3.1 code that's more stable - worked great so far). I've also got lots of pal games which don't show up properly even if I patch them (patching creates major offset of the screen, no patch just makes it impossible to see).

-Is it feasible for me to do this color fix?
-If i do do it, what do I need to do - take a piece of wire and go from the color fix point to the 3.45v point?
-Is there a particular guage of wire that must be used?
-My soldering iron isn't exactly made for this particular purpose but I think with practise on some old computer components I'll be able to do it safely...Is there any chance of damaging the ps2 if the iron gets hot? If I do get solder in the wrong point, will it be safe to remove it with the sucker thing or with the braids - like, will it remove any of the stuff pre-soldered on the board?

better yet, is there a way to deal with this offset without modifying the inner workings of my ps2?

    thanks in advance

just in case you have not found the points to connect to - they will be similar to this - this is from a V9 board - but the layout in this area is almost identicle on all stations from V4 up....

so...I would be soldering onto the pink highlighted thing? - the silver spots on the opposite ends of the black thing? (Damn i've forgotten a lot from high school engineering ) - now that i look at it, i'm guessing they're resistors?

I'm not going to get around to this till maybe next week...My wire is either 26 or 24 guage. Good enough? How big are these solder points in comparison to that wire? I just want an idea of how small i'll be working since most of the pcboards i've made in the past were well...handmade and enormous - 3x3inches for something that could probably have been brought down to about the size of the pic16f84s if it was machine made.

well AWG24 is like 2 times the size of the black surface mount resistor. but will work ok if you are careful - you will just have to make sure you tin the wire and contact points first so that you don't need to apply to much heat when soldering.

    AWG30 would be better.

The picture is zoomed in quite a lot the part is like 1.5mm x 3mm in size.

If your station is an NTSC station then link the colour fix point to the 3.3 / 3.45v point as indicated.

    Final question...
Does how badly will it be fried if i miss the solder point? Does it matter which side of the resistor i put the wire onto?

thanks for all the help man
