For the ps2 dvd-r's to work, you can check the wires behind the mobo and make sure none are lose or the solder touching the metal sheet under it. This happened to me once, so i just resoldered the couple of points behind the mobo and it works. As for the ps2 dvd-rips, i have the same problem. It just boots then a black screen. Same prob for ps2 cd-r's. If nothing will work then a ps2 swap might fix it.
I'm not sure what you mean by "behind the motherboard". Where exactly are you talking about? I'm in the process of continuity checking the board for the 5th time. I'm going to resolder the MNOP points since I'm able to check for continuity at and beyond the solder points of all other connections. Hopefully, this will fix my problem.
To clarify, my modded console won't boot : ps2 dvdrips and ps2 backup dvd-r. However it does boot and play all originals and ps1 backups.
If you're reading this could you please tell me if I solder the scex to the capacitor in series with the scex resistor do I have to use solder to bridge the two components to provide a good connection? If ps1 backups boot properly then does that mean that I already have a good connection at the Scex? Other people told me to check W,R,A,E points. Which other points are of particular importance?
Thanks again for your help guys.
By behind the mobo, i mean check the wires B-I, they may be touching or touching the metal sheet that goes behind the mobo. The wires that go through the hole and to the back of the mobo.
