Hi! This is kind of stupid question. But anyone can confirm? Because I tried install M2 1.31 on a 30001R v5. Some strange things happened. First can't load disc. after reset black screen. Then power off and power on again. now bios reset (just like when u buy a brand new PS2. Need to set clock). But good luck! After remove the chip it work again. I don't know if I got a bad chip or not. But I pretty sure it is not my problem. Because I had installed about 100 PS2s. But this is my first time install a M2 1.31 on a v5. thanks.

    Hi

    I have installed M2 1.31 in both V4, V5 and V7, and they work like a dream.

So I don't think the chip is the problem..

A short on the cddvd controller wires e d it sounds like to me or earthing to the ground plate:

I also had something like this on a v5 ps2 although it was a messiah 2 v1.30. The ps2 upon starting always ask to select the language then clock, etc. even after setting those values, the same thing happens upon turning the ps2 off and back on again. Also, it would not boot anything, no laser activity.

So I opened up the ps2 and found the clk wire and 2 cd/dvd controller wires pinched between the motherboard and the metal shielding (close to a screw) and the clk, at the least, was grounded as a consequence since the wire insulation was squeezed open and the surface under the screw is grounded.

So I patched up those wires and the ps2 operated normally again.
