messiah 2 1.31 has major problems?

I was set on getting this chip until i read neoasic has reported that the messiah 2 1.31 has DVD-r boot problems at this page . It seems that dvd-r doesn't boot after reset on two key ps2's the SCPH 50002 and the SCPH 50004 according to the quote they posted:

has this been fixed? i really don't want to shell out alot of money to install a mod customers will percieve as defective.

it is also evident on a 50003 uk

although i call it a minor bug ,the chip still boots all games,the bug is firmware 1.31 all 1.31 will be the same.im sure it will be fixed soon firmware no will change

at the end of the day there are many v9 owners out there now who will quite happily live with a hard reset after a dvd game,its the only option they got at present

lol i told my kids so they could use the new v9,lol they both said we have always turned it off after each game everytime anyway :)

Might be worth holding out for the V1.32 that way you get HD support as well as hopefully a few more bug fixes!

There aren't any other reported bugs to fix. To be clear, on PAL v9 with DVD-R and messiah 2 v1.31, the game needs to be booted from Standby.

Why would that be of any concern to you? barely any people in Australia have the HDD yet, and it hasn't been confirmed that the HDD will be released.

just wait for the DMS, it is said they are holding out so their chip can be compatible with all 50x consoles from all regions including the latest HDD softwares. I have a dms and it's worth every pinch of money i invested in it.

I have a 50004. @ the moment I don´t know what I have to get. M2 or DMS3. So the M2 v1.31 is ok with this console? What about the DMS3? Is it compatible with the 50004?

get a DMS3 it is compatible with the 50004

Bothe messiah 2 v1.31 and DMS3 are compatible with the 50004. The only available review (to the best of my knowledge) is of the Messiah 2 v1.31 on 50004 made by PS2Swap. I have fully reproduced it below.

AUS V9 Review M2 1.31
Ok here we go, firstly I must say thanks to those that have allowed me to test the new M2 1.31.

Please also note, I am in no-way linked or affiliated with the Messiah2 team, so this review is as unbiased as it can be.

Let me address some issues firstly. The DVD-R issue that everyone is raving about is present in this device. The DVD-R backups load everytime with no problems at all, however it requires powering down the unit with the back-up loaded, simple turn on of the unit, and play away. This is known as booting from stand-by mode.

Below is what I tested, I am not going to go into the install process, most know how to solder VIA pads and all the other points of an M2 modchip, so I think it is irrelevant.

All up this new revision of the M2 1.31 worked quite well. If you dont mind the DVD-R Games requiring the stand-by boot then I would give this the thumbs up. Everything else worked as well as the previous revision and on other consoles.

not trying to rain on your parade but it looks like it doesn't work on the us 50001 as well according to foundmy.com. I like the messiah 2 but it seems as though there are less features in it to justify the price diff. between it and the DMS3 - more chips will follow that will be v9 compatible and at a cheaper price, when that happens the messiah 2 will have to ad extra features or tthere will be nothing in it to justify the price.
