Messiah 1.30 V7 freezing problem! please help

I have a perfectly installed messiah 2 pro 1.30 installed in a brand new v7 pal ps2. It worked fine for a few weeks and then it started freezing at loading... screens it gta vice city and in various other games at random points. it still seems to load everything first time but a freind of mine said that when he had it, it would only sometimes load discs. Why is it suddenly acting so random. Is it a faulty chip or maybe a bad install. has anyone had such an experience in the past.

Could be anything but I'd guess it was laser or media related. Certainly try cleanining the lens with a disk with brushes. Wash the disks in warm soapy water too.

Is this original games or backups?

Once loading the game properly, the modchip isn't doing anything.
