Has anyone ever seen a MELTED V9/V10 laser. I recieved a V9 PS2 that had been chipped with infinity, no disk spinning... Opened it up and found the laser lens to be Melted quite badly. the 5V romeo mod had been applied quite cleanly.. so what might have caused this? I saw it once before in another V9 .. both had HD7 Lasers.

I've also seen this once - the PS2 was left in a car in the hot sun. Temp must've been 50/60 degrees celcuis. When I opened it up the laser eye was completely off color and looked melted.
Do you have a pic of it? What is exactly melted?
Yes, I also have a few of returns exactly the same as yours.All the melted ones were all with romeo mod. Don't know if it's related. But one thing is for sure that romeo mod does not solved the problem exactly. Now I have started using Summone's fix for v9/v10 and so far so good.Quote:

I have too 2 ps2 melted laser with romeo mod and one by DeMonS3 one messiah2 v2.02.Waste I cannot trust romeo mod so I apply on the focus coil 2.2ohm resistor and then I apply romeo mod.(I remember this resistor mod from Spain?)

A major fault with the Hd7 laser and V9 machines. I see machines like this
even unopen with no mod or fixs applied. -- I for sure don't think the
romeo fix works to stop this problem.
Summone's fix will help in this situtation to help in protecting against "laser melting"
