Today I have try to change some settings of the modbo 1.2, the settings can be changed. Also the modchip can be disable. After disable, can read backups when hard reset the ps2. So I try to flash V1.45 firmware, and it cant use.... so I run programs from memory card, I put 1.40 firmware into the memorycard and want to flash it back, but I cant, the program stopped when I push start and keep saying " programming please wait"... First I think maybe the pin3 of 25f005 is connect low so the chip is protected. But even I reconnect the pin3 to 3.3v, it still cant flash, why?? How can I flash it back to 1.40................!!!!??

For the memory card exploit, did you also include the data.bin file from the infinity firmware cd?

You could always try the cog swap memory card exploit, then use a cog swap tool (or a knife), and manually swap the ps1 disc for an infinity firmware disc.

After you changed the infinity settings, did they 'stick'? Could you go back into the settings menu and the settings you previously changed appear with the new values? If so this is a big deal.

I reset the ps2, the settings remains last time I set them. But when I change all the settings to no, it seems cant read backups? ...

Is the data.bin necessary??!! I can flash 1.40 just using the elf file....?!

My guess is that data.bin is needed (although I dont know for sure), try putting the file on the memory card and see if that works. If that still fails, try the cog swap method (so you can swap the disc to an actual infinity update cd)

So it appears that the only change is the 10K resistor connected between 3.3v and the modbo main chip. I'll have to try retro-fitting an old modbo 1.1 and see if it also works for this one too.

I just got done re-wiring a modbo 1.1 adding 10k resistor to that one 3.3v pin, and using 3.3v on the other two power pins (had to lift all three legs, as a common 3.3v trace is running under the chip to all legs)

Now I can change settings on the config screen, and they stick, but now the only thing the chip does is allow me to go into the config screen. If I change the settings back to default, the chip still doesnt boot backups. I cant remember what firmware I had on the chip, but it was either 1.38 or 1.39 (probably 1.38)

I know that changing the settings on a modbo normally kills the chip, but is the chip completely dead, or would the config screen still work (like in my situation)

Jpno could you get your Modbo 1.2 to boot backups after you changed the settings?

Also, is pin 31 (bottom right corner, second from right) connected to 3.3v or to the 10K resistor?
