McFried Bios? (need help!!)
Well, over the weekend I installed a green Magic 7 clone into my V7 machine.
At first, I was using the "Magic Bios Clip" which worked VERY poorly.
I played with the clip for a while to get it to sit properly, but just couldn't get it to work.
I threw the clip in the garbabe and then soldered the points directly to the board.
Now the unit is HALF DEAD.
I revmoved all of my soldering and it is still HALF DEAD.
HALF DEAD = front lights/buttons work, but no startup SONY screen.
I've searched long and hard for bridges on the BIOS chip but haven't found any.
1) Any other suggestions?
2) I've heard reference to a 'controller' IC. Is this the same as the BIOS chip?
3) I've measured 39ohms between the 3.3V rail and GND. Can someone verify that this is right? (It seems really small).
4) When testing the motherboard, can I NOT connect the laser/cd assembly and still get the SONY screen at turn on? (Just wanna do some probing).
Much thanks in advance,
