Matrix MXL2 V3 problem (go to browser)
Matrix MXL2 V3 problem (go to browser) –
Well, another new problem found with Matrix MXL2.
Well, I installed it on a v3 PAL No-Gap Underside BIOS. Well, when I put a game, original or backup, it is recognized but the ps2 go to browser and shows a Gold Disc. No matter how many times I hit OK, it does it again and again.
This is the second time I see this problem, the first time I thought I was my fault, and I remove the Matrix and installed it on a v9 where its work perfectly and later install a Messiah2 in the v3 and it works perfectly too.
Well, I see it again, so im thinking may be its an incompatibility with that model of ps2??
I have checked the install and its all ok. Im sure.
Thanks for helping
Its not incompatibility mate, the MXL 2 works with v3-v10, with no probs, i would think it is down to the install, i would sugest you e-mail the MATRIX team and speak to them, they are very helpful, and will give you full backup.
sounds like you have a bios wire misplaced..
Bios Wires misplaced or cold welding of a bios wire.
Check them all or, even better, redo all of them from zero.
I remember I had one machine with this problem. The problem was a weak laser, which could not read the disk perfectly. I rewrote the disk to a better media, and worked like charm. The V3 has a very weak laser, this is also a factor to examine.
The problem –
Yes, may be its a weak laser but the problem occurs with original and backups, if I insert an original game it goes to the browser too and never boots.
If I turn the chip off holding the reset the ps2 works perfectly and the original games boot (of course backups dont)
Ps1 games and DVD movie boot perfectly (original and backups) of course holding the reset to choose the ps1 mode.
Ive tested the BIOS wires and all of them are OK.
A messiah2 has been tested and ps2 boot backups using the same wires as Matrix MXL2 adding of course C D E F G H and CLK and removing Y.
MXL2 does not switch off by holding the reset button pressed.
That's the procedute to place it in PS1/DVD mode.
Holding the reset for 5 seconds turns the chip off.
again, that's not correct.
The MXL2 is turned off by the following procedure:
With the PS2 on standby position (red light ON), press the reset
button and keep pressed until the blue light turns ON.
Release reset button and press again within two seconds.
If you keep pressed the reset button for 5 seconds the PS2 will stay in PS1 mode (V3-V8) or the PS2 will turn off (V9/V10).
You can check it here:
The problem continue –
After checking all connections and rewire with new wires all the installation the problem continue.
The only thing I can do now is install a Messiah2 in the v3 and try.
Talking about stealth mode and ps1/DVD mode i have to tell that Matrix MXL2 can be switched off with tho methods.
One of them is the one published in its home page as Chip&Chop said:
First go to ps1 mode and then press reset again within two seconds (only method for v9/v10 consoles)
The other one is as uns97 said:
Press Reset button for 5 or more seconds.
Two both method are correct, I tested them.
By the way, I emailed Matrix-Team and told them my problem and I have got it twice.
They asked me the serial-number of the machine to look for a possible incompatibility problem in "Spanish UnderSide Gap Bios v3"
I hope its my fault and not Matrix Fault
I will inform what happen.
