Matrix MXL2 chip problems

hey people i have a modded ps2 with a Matrix MXL2 chip been working fine booting games for 2 years now suddenly few weeks back i cant boot backup games and all i hear is a clicking noise i have also got the laser changed and i can play cd-r and ps2 originals i was wondering if anyone come across this problem or have a solution to it thanx

does it play original PS2 DVD titles (silver bottom) and Movies?
