i just istalled a mi in a v4, this is my first ps2 install, i have done alot of xbox chips and other stuff so i know how to solder, the problem is that the ps2 boots to a blank screen. the light stays green and i can eject but i get no video. if i hold the reset button for a few seconds the ps2 boots to the origonal bios. i tried to burn a cd with the latest firmware to try and flash the chip but nothing happens, the disk just spins up for awhile. and if i put the disk in when the origonal bios is booted i get an the red screen that tells me to use origonal ps2 disks ecs. so i know the laser is working and it can read the disk.

i have cheaked all my connections for bridges and to see if the wires are in the right place and as far as i can tell there all fine. any help would be great thanks

also i disconnected the 3.3v wire and i get the same problem, the only way it will boot is if i hold the reset button for like 5 seconds

The Infinity could be a homebrew. I don't know what you mean by original bios because you're probably using Xbox terms. I might be doubting your abilities but Xbox is nothing compared to modding a ps2. Ps2 is much more difficult.

Just wondering, do you have the controller plugged? You need to have controller 1 plugged in.

yea my controller is pluged in, and when i say origonal bios i mean the ps2 boots as if it were factory, i have gotten the disk to boot to flash the firmware but when i try to flash it it just says error flashing. i figured xbox and ps2 modding would be similar but i guess i am way off

when you say homebrew what do you mean, because the matrix sight hase a couple of different versions, one of them being the homebrew. and i ordered the infinity from modchipman.com

Can I see a picture of the install? Did you make sure that you put something on top of the chip so it won't touch the metal casing?

Kewl, I think you should try to get the ps2 working like normal again. I had a similar case to yours while back but with a v12. It wouldn't boot up until I hold the reset button for couple seconds. I think you should take the chip off and try to get it working like it did before. Then reinstall everything and try to mimic my install: http://img28.exs.cx/img28/6597/pm20v...ixinfinity.jpg

It's a very good place to put the chip. Try that. I think this is an installation problem. It could be your modchip but that's a rare case. Also, take into consideration that your modchip might be an Infinity Homebrew chip which means you have to flash it with the firmware to get it to boot backups.

I've been having the same problem too recently. I did not install the modchip myself, but a friend of a friend did. It used to start everytime, but it would have to sit for a few moments if when i turned it off before booting again. it has recently gotten to the point where it is difficult to even get it to boot.

Like Alex, i can hold the power button down to reflash (tried updating to the latest 1.46) but it always freezes at programming, never finishing. Its not a clone either, so its not that the 1.46 killed it, since it will still boot ocasionaly. I'm beggining to get very frustrated since it used to work. Should i try to have the guy reinstall the chip, or might this be another problem?
