Just installed an Infinity in a V4 - short wires, good joints, no shorts and everything. Load a backup, powered it up and I get a black screen for 10 seconds, then browser, then I get the red cloud "this is not a playstation 2 disc" or something like that.

When I load an original game it will boot the Playstation 2 (Infinity 1.2) splash screen and load fine. It always shows the Infinity splash screen but sometimes boots the original sometimes just hangs at a black screen.

Note: before this, I had a long wire install DMS3 that was getting to video at all. I uninstalled it and the PS2 worked perfectly. Thats when I started on the infinity.

My Power/Eject ribbon cable is kinda mawled. Is it possible it's putting the chip to sleep because of this?

Also, I have a V12 waiting for that lens fix. To confirm, this burnout can occur on Crystals, Infinitys, and unmoddeds alike, correct?

Whoa.. You're right - I plugged my controller in and it boooted up with no pause. Now my original games boot up perfectly fine. Backups never boot. I'm gonna clean my laser and recheck my wiring. Any particular wire in V4+Inifinity I should pay close attention to that may be related to reading backups? Thanks

Loy, you're right again!! I opened up my PS2 and noticed I had my "I" point in the wrong place. Fixed it and loaded up my Bujinkai backup perfectly. Works even better than the long wire Infinity install that I did a few weeks ago (I'll post pics soon). When I saw my "I" point in the wrong place I finally understood what you meant by "iab" (I thought you were insulting me )

Man this great fun - I should have started on PS2s when you guys started - instead of Xboxs. I saw some old PS2s at gamestop I think I'll snatch them up and practice some more. Also, I just bought 2 PSOnes and am going to mod those for the first time too

Oh and still have a new in box V12 and and some Ritek orange tops. But the thing is I've burned my stuff 8X on a 4X burner so I'm not sure if I wanna risk it.

    Thanks for your help loy!
