Matrix Infinity problem

Well i chipped machine with the infinity and tested all worked fine, then the customer ttook it home and it died within hours showing the classic v9/v10 syndrome
now he got his ps2 replaced and had this chipped again with the infinity and this machine has again died showing the v9/v10 syndrome lasting slightly longer than a week.
Now the chip still functions as it shows disabled when you disable it etc and after checking the wiring all is fine so i cannot see how i am to blame, however he is now blaming me because his machines stopped working.
Basically all i want is some feedback from the regular installers so i can then point this thread out to him showing wether i am to blame etc etc
(via wires where soldered to vias under board first model and to legs on 2nd model) machine was a Silver v9 and replacement was a silver V9 both PAL

I think it's bad luck that you had 2 machines die after each other. Current wisdom is that the chip (whichever chip) has nothing to do with dead V9/10. The last machine I had like this, I replaced the LA6508 and turned the pots up on the laser (so it wouldn't have to struggle so much reading dvdr). This solved the problem. Many people recommend swopping the laser as well, but that makes the whole thing very pricey.

Ps2modUK maybe your customer is using poor quality media ? He should be using high quality media such as ritek. The discs should be free of any smudges and scratchs.

well i know he has used dvd-rips which i advise against and i always recommend ritek media for backups, basically all i wanted was some feedback so i can point out to him that this is not an isolated problem its widespread with v9/v10 and all the chips

thanks for replies guys, i just been reading up on the romeo and will be watching out for this, hopefully this will solve the v9/v10 syndrome.

Hello Guys - what is the exact part number of the LA6508?

I assume it is a Sanyo part from discussions - but does anyone know the package abbreviation and company abreviation?

I found some parts that "may" be the correct type - but under mfg - it has SOP/PLC

Are there any extensions to the LA6508 when ordering? i.e. like H or D or P?

lo shadow i saw someone post about these right at the end of the huge v9/v10 discusion, think they mention $9 each
