Matrix Infinity - No Longer Works, De-activated?
Matrix Infinity - No Longer Works, De-activated? –
Hi guys, I purchased my PS2 recently pre-fitted with the Matrix Infinity Chip from this site www.****.co.uk (temporarily removed while I sort the problem with the site owner)
Today when trying to run some of my friends PS2 games I went into the configuration menu in hope to boot some NTSC PS2 backup games. The problem now is I cannot play any backup games whatsoever (PAL or NTSC) - The only games that work now are originals (which isnt much good for me)
Everything was fine with my PS2 until I made an attempt to load some NTSC games that wouldn't load. I remembered reading about a configuration menu that could be accessed at boot-up. I manually tried to guess the key combination to load up the configuration menu (doing things like pressing all the buttons at boot-up etc..)
Eventually I found the combination (hold Circle & Triangle at boot-up) - this loads the PS2 into the Matrix Infinity Configuration Screen. This gives a number of Options, they are as follows:
PS2 Screen Fix, PSX Screen Fix, MC16 Patch, ATAD Auto Patch, Macrovision Fix, Green Fix, Boot Mode, Pad Detect Time & Default Language.
I made various alterations to get the NTSC game to run without luck - then when I tried to run my other PAL backups that worked fine just minutes ago suddenly they all stop working! None of my backups work at all. It would seem that I have somehow 'turned off' the Mod-Chip.
I have noticed that when I load a game the Matrix Infinity logo 1.38 logo no longer appears below the PlayStation logo that loads on boot-up.
Surely someone here can provide me with any information that will enable to me get my PS2 to run my backups again & reactivate my Matrix Infinity Chip.
My PlayStation 2 spec is as follows:
Here is my PS2 Version Information:
Console : SCPH-70003
Browser : 1.40
CD Player : 2.00
PlayStation Driver : 1.11
DVD Player : 3.10E
Matrix Infinity (Firmware version 1.38 - purchased pre-fitted from URL above)
I have seemingly tried everything to get this to run my PS2 backup games, yet nothing seems to work. All was fine until I was trying key combinations to load up the configuration menu.
Can anybody please help - i've only just bought this and I don't want to waste £159 for nothing.
Thanks in advance
P.S Please ask if you require any more information that may aid you in helping me find a solution. Cheers

Reason: edit URL - not sure it external linking allowed
looks like u have a clone/fake matrix infinity...they always die when u change modchip settings and/or when trying to update the firmware.
yes your chip was a clone and you have killed it get your money back
yip - definately a clone chip. there's no way to fix it - you will have to replace the chip.
How easy is it replace?
Also - would it be fair to say this site have 'decieved me'.
I thought I was getting an Matrix Infinity Chip it even comes with the instructions printed from the Matrix Infinity site, now the guy is saying the site clearly states it is a Mod-bo chip they use although the term mod-bo isnt used anywhere on the site.
I'm gonna try to get the guy to replace it & ideally put in an official Matrix Infinity chip - if this doesnt work does anyone know of any trusted UK vendors that will do this for me.
Thanks for your all advice

that site looks crappy as hell why would you order from them? according to the site this is what you bought Brand New Slimline PSTWO With Professionally Installed Direct Boot Mod-Chip With Matrix Infinity Bios With Multi- Region DVD Playback i don't see anything saying that they use modbo chip instead of real matrix infinity, but when you click on the part that says Direct Boot Mod-Chip it directs you to the Myth Chip site, thought the Myth Chip which is new is not a matrix infinity clone it is supposely its own code? as for replacing shouldn't be hard as it is already wired to the motherboard just needs a a new chip to replace the dead chip. you can get another modbo for $10
I'll agreed it does look a crappy site - I only went with it because someone recommended it (I shouldnt take everyone's advice I know
I have just spoke to the guy and he did seem fairly nice about, although I do think he was pulling my leg abit, said that its roughly 1 in 1000 Mod-Bo chips end up being corrupted and that he has never had any problems using the configuration menu.
He did state the newer Mod-bo (v2 I believe but I may have misheard this on the phone) have been improved and have no issues with config menus or flash bios upgrades.
I'll let you know of my progress... no ps2 for xmas for me Looks like I'm gonna have to play marbles or something. lol (at least i'm smiling a bit more now)
Also, can anyone tell me which are the latest versions of the Modbo & also of the official Matrix Infinity mod-chips.
u can fix em, just reprogram the eeprom if u hav an eeprom programmer or do some searchin, oz_shadow made a post while back on how to recover dead 1s.
ps. just cuz i no this dont mean i support clones just i hav had lots of customers come in wiht them to hav them installed.
i'm interested to know how you would go about reflashing them. do you have a link to the post. ive searched but couldnt find anything.
