Matrix Infinity, DMS3, or Ripper3? V10 NTSC PS2
Matrix Infinity, DMS3, or Ripper3? V10 NTSC PS2 –
09-23-2004,05:17 PM
I am going to mod my v10 US PS2. From what I have been reading, the Ripper3 just stole the Matrix Infinity's code. SO I guess I am down to deciding between the DMS3 or the Matrix Infinity. To me it seems that the Matrix Infinity is in first place as far as features go. It has one feature that the DMS3 doesn't, the auto detect of which type of game is inserted. It also has a sleep mode, which will disable the chip after the game boots, correct? I would think that this would come in handy for DNAS games online. I play SOCOM 2, and I prefer to play my backup because it is patched to work with my 3rd party HDD. Yes, I do own an original copy of SOCOM 2, so pirating is not an issue.
So I guess all I am looking for from all of you is confirmation that the Matrix Infinity is the best ps2 chip on the market right now.
Also, should I do the romeo mod? My v10 is only 2 weeks old, and I have always figured if it aint broke, don't fix it!

The matter for deciding which chip is the best is always difficult...
Keep in mind that the dms3 also has a sleep mode, but they call it stealth mode,
the matrix infinity has the auto detect feature, but unless you're playing alot of psx games on your ps2 that really won't matter much. The matrix infinity also has less wires to solder, so if you're going to install it yourself, it will be easier to do, especially a v10 where the dms3 has 8 wires to go right next to one another on the controller, and the MI only has 4 (3 if you use alternative A...), none of which are right next to one another.. So the MI is easier to install.
About the sleep mode, the chip does not disable itself after boot, you wont be able to play backups online without some sort of patching, which i will not discuss here...
You have to disable the chip manually for both the dms3 and the matrix infinity and play originals online......
My choice would be the MI, but i'm sure you won't go wrong with the dms3 either...
Just make sure you get the + version.......
good luck

MaCe1337, DMS3 Plus does not have 8 controller point... only 3 for the US/PAL PS2, 4 for JAP PS2.
Now about which modchip you should go with I myself recommend the Matrix Infinity too. I play PSX, DVD movies, and PS2 games so autoboot features helps.

Doesn't make it any less of a solid chip.

Yup, I think I'm going to go with the Infinity from 9HomerSimpson9. $41 shipped sounds like a deal to me.

Yeah but no one like to support people who rips other people off.
