I recently installed(my first time doing soldering on PS2) a Matrix Infinity chip on my v5 & and everything works fine except the chip needs to be "warmed up" before it can boot anything, meaning I need to wait about 1 minute after turning on the PS2 before I can boot original disc & backup. It shows the Red screen when I tried booting backup & originals immediately after turning on the PS2 system.
I don't think it's the lense getting weak because before I did any installation I checked and it boots originals just fine. So the problem has got to be the soldering... but

I need help figuring out which wire I didn't solder correctly, I'm assuming it's the 3.3v point.. The installation diagram provided isn't very clear so I'm abit confused. Is the soldering points for 3.3v on the motherboard a tiny hole or the leg of the IC chip?
I assumed it's the hole & put the wire inside & through the hole then solder it.

I also just upgraded my v5 machine from HK Messiah 2 to Matrix Infinity.During installation I found that the 3.3V point is very hard to solder. As an alternative I use DMS4 3.3V solder point and this solved my problem.Just download DMS4 diagram for V5 and I'm sure you'll be ok.

use thick cables on the 3,3v and GND points, just to be on the safe side.

Nice to hear that from you.Like I've posted before, I really had a tough time to solder on Matrix's 3.3V point, the DMS3/4 solder point is much easier. Now you can enjoy booting HDL straight from the MC.
