making the ps2...work outside the box

I want to make the ps2 into a bunch of components. What my main goal is to get the cd-drive by itself and functional and then put the rest of the ps2 somewhere else. This project is for my car by the way. I'm going to be putting the cd-drive in my center console and the rest in the trunk or something. Anyone have any ideas on a good way to go about doing this?

to much resistance is created and trying to keep the signals away from automotive impurities 9read sound disturbances, such as heater fan, ignition noises), you know that high pitch squeal that your new amplifier seems to always pick-up? cant have that with a ps2 all taken apart. Not that it cant be done, but its like those people who take a sega master system and try to make it portable, when they just need to pick up a game gear instead!!
