MagicV 50k for V9 question
MagicV 50k for V9 question –
Could someone confirm the correct point for the "Y" connection...i see many instal diags with different points. Is it the pad nearest the large IC,or the one beside the pad just mentioned?????
Also,is the any special wiring requirements for the MagicV,like there is with the DMS3,as I'm getting a RSOD always......psx games work ok,& originals do only when disabled.Connections are 100%(accept the Y,which i'm not sure, but tryed both points without success).
One last thing, does the MagicV use a clk point???cause there is no connection for one,but i don't see a oscillator on the mod, unless its using a internal clk from the chip itself????
Any help appreciated.
Here is the diagram I used. It has a different Y point. The stock location just did not work for me and this one did.
Hope it helps
Which 'Y' point did u use-the one in yellow or green???I tryed both but still RSOD Could the chip be faulty...what is the failure rate of these mods????
Any other issues that need to be considered,ie,the gnd wire length...i see they connect gnd straight to the board without wire...I used a double ground with no change!
The green is original location, Yellow is the new. With the original location the chip would just hang at boot if I remember correctly.
Chances are its not the chip, its more like one of the wires not correct. Its not hard to do. I never had much trouble with the power and ground. I just use 22awg on power and ground and never had a problem.
Double-check your 'R' wire. I've read that it has to be run separately from all the other wires.
Thanks Racer & modicullus,
I'll check the R wire......i triple checked every wire,& all is in correct location......its just that this is a one off,as I normally instal Messiah2 & DMS3,so i don't have a replacement to swap with.
So there is no clk point on the MagicV,as most V9 chips use the clk off the ps2
How reliable & sensitive are these mods....i rewired the R wire so its seperate,& spread the bios wires apart(as opposed in a loom),& it will boot games(dvd-r,cd-r) for the 1st 2 mins, then RSOD after that
Besides the R wire, what else could be causing the RSOD after 2 mins???
check the Y wire...also very sensitive
Ye,did that too...it runs under the bios wires(flat)....think that may cause problems???
try to use a thicker wire for your Y and see if it helps....
no reason why it works for 2 minutes and stop working
