Hey. I just put in a magic 3 into a v4 PS2 with gap. Everything looks fine and has been checked over many times. The problem is that DVD originals and DVD-r backups refuse to load, but DVD movies and PS2 CDoriginal/CDr work great.

    Any suggestions?

It may be one of the causes in the Messiah 2 TSG. Most are applicable to Magic 3.

You have one of the controler wires swapped or loose. Probaby G and H swapped. Seen this before. Disconnect one wire at a time and ohm to the via hole that correspondes to the point. Note some may be on the other side of the board.

    Hope this helps.

Well I know it's not the chip, I tried a couple others in it. I haven't checked to see if my friend got those 2 wires backwards, and won't be able to for at least a few more days.

If we undo reset, DVD original games work great, so it's deffinately something with the install
