Magic3 (yeah i know its poor) not reading any DVD-R media at all

i got an v7 pal with magic 3 in.
It will read every original and every cd-r backup but it wont read DVD-R copies at all.

the laser works fine with another v7 board with magic 3, everyting it will eat, but not in this case.

I tried the alt W spot no success :(

I even had a dms3 in it with the same result no dvd-r

Any idea or suggestions would be great.

first of all, if also a DMS didn't load DVD-R then it's not the magic fault.

U didn't mantion if the dms was working on the same set of wires or u reinstalled it !!

if it was working on the same set of wires, try to check out the DVD/CD points for cold solder.

what board ver you have on the v7? gh-019?? I know that magic 3.1 don't work well on this board.

dvd-r movies work great.

At first i used the same wires and when they didnt work i reinstalled them fresh. its a v7 gh 019 board,
a little story here about this machine.

i had an dms 3 ver 1 installed and it freezed after 15 - 30 min of play it was an lose wire from the power thats when it was warm shorted with gnd i then had put on 1.6b upgrade and nothing else than cd-r games worked. and has never since.

Rarely a dvd-r games work now but i loads slowly and jerky.
I have put in a new or used DVD- drive from another v7 board thats worked fine, but not in this board.

im really stuck here , perhaps i sell it to someone as junk or replacement board :(

you re-installed the cd/dvd wires... check point A (or whatever point is near the W wire). Make sure you're using good media as well.
