I am concerned with how the magic3 has altered my ability to play ps2 originals.

F1 2002, MOH Front Line, GTA3, MSG2, GTA-VC all of them have choppy audio and video, like the machine has entered in a slow motion mode....the game finaly loads but it takes forever.
The boot was done in PS1 mode (hold reset until blue light comes up).

    Has anyone experienced this?

    Thanks.

Yould try and put a 1uF 35v polarised capacitor into the S line, + towards the Magic 3 pad. This will smooth the noise that is triggering the PS2 into its boot routine. Nobody knows why this happens 0 it happened on Magic 2 and makes me wonder why the bothered with Magic 3.

Why are you booting ps2 games in ps1 mode? Are you trying to put the chip in "sleep mode"? Press and hold the reset for 6 seconds.

Good point. Nobody's yet got to the bottom of why it happens. It's a carry over from Magic 2, but Apple chip also had that problem - less often - I recall.

We measured the voltage on that line; it pulsed during the boot dequence at 3v when acting normally. But when we had to put the capacitor on, it was randomly noisy, frequently so and pulsing like a yoyo.
