Okay ... I've seen a zillion posts about the external on/off switch for the magic3.

my question is ... what about the magic2??? does such a white whale exist?

does simply switching the MCLR line have the same effect on the magic2???

    does anyone know???

    will anyone respond???

Yeah switch the mclr line to ground it when you want to disable the chip. It is easier than the 3.x chip because you do not need to cut tracks.
