Magic2 mounting help
In Charlie's install guild for V5 systems, he placed his modchip on top of the ps2 motherboard. He mentioned on other threads that the red pcb magic 2 might be too thick for such position. An alternate position is beside the the DVD drive, on the metal cage. I think that two locations are at two opposite ends. I would assume if one chose to mount it on the metal cage, he should not use the same 3.3v and GND soldering point as stated in Charlie's V5 install guide.
I looked at china-magic site, it's 3.3v and GND are closer to the metal cage side, however it's a via hold, can I solder my 3.3v point right at the leg beside that VIA hole? are they the same?
Do any of you have any suggestions for me?
BTS, I see charlie uses hot glue for fixing all the wire's position, would regular tapes do the same job? would it ruin anything if it get hot?
P.S. China-magic's 5v point is different from Charlie's, they are the same thing, right?
If in doubt use my points. The GND wire needs to be the short one and there are loads of those incl the one in the Magic diagram.
Don't solder to the via.
I use these points m8 on the board with 100% success.
