Check your rest wire as well. If it?s not installed, or installed improperly you won?t be able to switch it into PSX mode. Recheck your scex point as well. Those are the two main things you need to look for as far as the install goes. Of course make sure you know the boot procedure as well. From standby hold eject down for 3 seconds insert PSX game and then tap reset once. You can make sure that your install is good by using an original PSX game to see if it will switch into PSX mode and boot, because your laser should read an original PSX game very easily and if the install is incorrect it will boot the same way as the other problem back-ups you can?t get to boot (yes I said that right if the install isn?t correct you wont be able to boot an original either). If it doesn?t you know that your install is screwed and you need to take a look at it.
If your install is incorrect and the chip can?t switch into PSX mode the Magic V defaults to PS2 mode thus making a PSX game appear to be a music CD

my friend also had the same problem with modchip.ca
he also ordered Magic V premod from them and once the system got here he decided to open it up because he want to see if he had a V10 or V9 (rememeber in canada even 3D might have a V9 inside)
and to his suprise the chip inside is not a magic V but some unknow looking chip...but it worked anyway so he didn't really complain to MODCHIP.CA .

I've had this happen on my v10 Messiah 2 installs. I just held eject until the tray ejected (blue light came on) rather than holding reset and it wirked just fine. Does this mean the V10 reset point isn't the correct one? I'm gonna test it out on my next one and see what happens.
The v9/10 install diagrams have the reset wire attached to the eject button instead of reset. This is probably because 5000x PS2s turn themselves off if you hold reset for too long.

Please show us a copy of your receipt for this machine you bough from www.modchip.ca You received a machine i suspect from cybershop.ca or some other vendor, we have never stocked nor ever installed a messiah 3.2 in any machine, you really need to get your facts straight before posting such LIES I challenge anyone to show us a machien that does not have a official magic product inside of it that was purchased from www.modchip.ca
Hopefully you will figure out where you bought the machine , we also have our own security stickers on the machine, lets see one of them if this machine was from "www.modchip.ca"

Hey, modchip.ca
I don't think cybershop.ca sells modchips (site seems awfully geared towards video production, not modchips)... probably another place you're talking about. I have a STRONG feeling who it might be, based on what you tried to link, but I don't want to slag anyone off / name names, you know.
Either way, guys, I wouldn't complain too much. Does the chip work well? No problems? No loose wires? No spaghetti install? Be happy, IMHO!
That being said, I know where you're coming from. Getting anyone to mod your console who isn't you can be a gamble.
Just the other day two PS2s dropped by which someone (well, I know who, but again, would rather not be a rat, not right, people can have bad days), as far as I can tell, used acid core solder on. Or, that's my best guess, considering there was so much CORROSION on the BIOS and controller pads that one fell right off on my dental pick. I told them they were unrepairable (best not to mess with stuff that badly damaged).
The best part? They used single sided, folded, paper, FEDEX STICKERS to stick the modchip down and hold their spaghetti wiring in place. Now that's what I call kwalitee with a capital "K".
