After installing Magic S+ on my V12, and Summone's fix using 2.0k resistor on "683" (tracking) and 4.7k on focus, I got a black/blank screen. Holding down reset put Magic S in sleep mode and everything worked fine.

I then installed the "blank fix" which is simply capacitors on the "A" and "?" (forgetting). I then could boot to Browser, etc. First time installing PS2 backup, it loaded fine, then started skipping and finally froze. Subseqeuntly, could read that PS2 disc was installed, but would freeze on loading. Same with PS1 discs. Audio and DVD still work fine with Magic S active.

It seems that heat is the problem and possibly related to the Summone fix. Should I try a 1.8k resistor for the tracking coils? I would think focus is fine since I am reading the disk initially.

a 1.8 will only make the tracking work a little worse, so don`t change that. try removing the 4.7K from the focus.

Thanks, I will try that. More information: PS1 back-up would load PSX splash screen then blank screen and game sound could be heard, but no video.

thats the psx function of your top quality bootleg magic chip. or the summone fix going in to action. It saves the lasers but even i have problems to get originals to boot. you can try the 1.8 but 2k is actuly 1.9 so i say go for 1.5 . If you still have problems isntall subzero fix as i have been usint latly and not asmany problems as summons fix

Theres no point going from a 2K to a 1.5K if he has problems with disc reading. the LOWER you go the better protection, but also the lower the disc reading abilities.

Well, I tried everything...1.8k, 1.5k, removed 4.7k from focus. Still same results each time in that worked good for up to five minutes then skipping and ultimately freezing. After taking off the resistor from the focus, I think I killed the laser as now the disc does not spin. Another new laser on the way. It may be that I just burned a fuse as a piece of desoldering braid fell off the board after the disc spinning problem. Doh!

I think it is time to remove the magic S+ and test from factory conditions to see if the games freeze once things warm up.

Ive installed about 10 magic s+ and never more.
They gave me sooo much problems with freezing, black screen and everything. Although your problem is now about laser, i just saw the first post about black screen. thats why im posting this.

What do you recommend? I am now leaning toward trying Matrix Infinity. If recommended, where should I purchase if in USA?
