I bought Xenosaga and I see that it does not boot. I have a ps2 version 7 with a magic chip 2 installed ntsc u/c. I can boot everything but the problem I see is that the game has dual layer protection is there anything to get by the protection? I thought of using a gameshark 2 to get through the problem please give suggestions.

As far as I know, and according to the words of the experts in this forum, a Gameshark Version 2 should boot Xenosaga. If anything, I *truly* share any frustrations you have here; I've a V4 1C console that won't boot Xenosaga, even with a Gameshark..yet seems to boot everything else fine. Needless to say, I'll be selling it very, very soon.

Are you guys both running a real magic 2, or a clone? I too have a V4 1c, but haven't tried any dvd9 disks. If there is a problem with dvd9 and the magic2, I will probably just upgrade to a messiah 2 and add a on/off switch.

Shuu: what makes you think that upgrading your system to a new version will make a difference? Upgrading the chip is easier and cheeper.

Upgrading to the new console will make a difference because I'll be upgrading both the console and the chip; i.e. I'm getting a Messiah 2. I'm running an Apple Chip in mine. And technically, selling the Apple-modded PS2 and buying a Messiah premod is quite possibly the most cost-effective method for me in total savings.
