Have a brand new ver7 ps2 and installed the magic 3 chip. I'll turn on the system and I won't get any screen. Just black. The eject button dosn't work right away. I can turn the unit on with the eject button but the door dosn't open for quite some time (15sec.or so). Then the game never boots up. Just a black screen. The only thing i can think of is that the gauge wire I used for the 5v and ground are not thick enough. I saw on ONE webpage that I might have a fake chip. Any thoughts would be welcome. Thanks To clear it up a little bit.....No Games work, backup orignal or dvd.

I had a similar problem with a v5 install. Try double checking the ground. If you are using thin wire for 5v & ground, trying using something thicker 22 gauge or so.

remove the chip and try again and check the bios not to be bridged.

I think its probably the ground of the 5v wire being too thin. Checked all the solder points and I didn't bridge anything. Eveything seems to be ok.
