I apologise in advance if this question has been answered before. I tried searching but couldnt find the answer, if it in fact has been answered, just point me in the right direction and keep any nasty comments to yourself.

I recently had a Magic 3 chip installed (I dont know if it is 3.0 or 3.1) for the purpose of playing genuine imports from Japan/US. Since I am in a PAL region the reason for this should be obvious, I cant stand waiting

I have a PAL v7 PS2 in excellent condition, the magic 3 chip was installed yesterday.

    Anyway on to the question.

I will only be using this chip for booting legitimate games that I buy from online retailers like lik-sang and play-asia. Please note I am never going to play a backup or any kind of burnt media ever on my PS2. Considering this, will my PS2 die an untimely death due to the chip?

(btw: comments like "get a x chip instead" are not useful or wanted)

Nope... you'll be fine. I still have consoles out there that are 2/3 years old with magics in them... running fine.
