Magic 3 does not boot every time

ok i moded this unit a month ago,tried several burnt copies and it worked fine.yesterday i brought it out of the box (christmas gift for the kids)to confirm a different format by a friend.so i booted two games it worked, then his burned TH4.the dreaded red screen.in any case i could not get another game to boot as well the tray would not close.also my friend noted that the browser should have the flying white light mine just sits solid in the middle of the screen.
-bad connection?
-broken wire?
-bad chip? hope not

as well his new tony hawk 4 worked on his machine with the swap disc but later when i tried again 4 hours later th4 started then froze at the intro screen.

what kind of media for the burn?

the media is verbatum cd-r
and they worked earlier no problem.

Seems like your settings have been lost.
Try going into your system settings and fixing the date, time etc.
After doing that, you should get the swirling back, plus your games may now boot.

when i try to change the date and time it wont accept it .

you have to go in and out of the date changing thing..sometimes it wont accept changes i don't know why. But since no more games boot, you probably had a connection that wasn't on tight enough maybe ground, and as the ps2 ran for a bit popped off. Open it up and check all the connections.
