I have the magic 3.6 which I just bought for my V7 PS2 and have a problem with my "S" connection. I cannot run PS1 games. Original or backups. From looking at the diagrams it was not apparent that the connection point for the S wire is on the end of a component that connects directly to the component next to it which I believe is labeled "104". The component on the left in the diagram I cannot identify and I need to. While trying to solder to just the left component and not to the connection between both (which would have been a lot easier) I believe the unidentified left component is damaged and needs replacement. Can anyone tell me which component needs to be replaced?

    Thank you

The component you are asking about is a 1/4w, 100,000 Ohm Surface Mount Resistor. However you need not use a suface mount version of this resistor, you can use a normal resistor of the same value.

I lost that same resistor during an install, i ended up running two wires from the footprint of the original resistor, one to each side of the resistor i got from Radio Shack.

Another question-The component I said that I could read , the one with 104 on it, is not the one I need. Is your information about that one or the one that I said I could not read that is to the left of it. I ask because from what I know about reading components, especially resistors and capcitors, 104 refers to
100000. A 1, a zero and 4 more zeros. Before I solder a 100000 ohm resistor in place of the component to the left of the one labeled "104" I want to make sure you gave me the correct one. If you did , that means both components at the "S"
    point are 104.

    Can you advise?
