magic 3.5 fixed
magic 3.5 fixed –
well, i know a lot of ppl have problems w/ their magic 3.0 and 3.5s
i had a bootin problem, everythin gave the red screen except for original games.
my solution was quite simple... i went back and found a wire loose..
i made sure the bios clip was nice and tight (very helpful.. hardest part of the board to solder and the clip makes it super-easy)
.. i just hope the clip doesnt get out of place in the future..
i cut the wires from the BGA clip (L-shaped clip) and soldered them myself
i turn on the ps2, load up Vice City(Dvd-r)... works
took me two tries, but it worked. (i use Ritek DVD-r Media btw)
i tested --
dragonball z budukai (dvd-r)
dead to rights (dvd-r)
NEED FOR SPEED HP 2 (cd-r)
Tekken 4 (cd-r)
all worked w/ in 2 tries
not too bad.. for 9 wires to solder.. i kno the messiah is 100x more stable and reliable... but its 23 frikkin wires.. maybe if they had a bios clip.. and $30 cheaper..
all booted up fine, i played tekken 4 for an hour, and dragonball z for 2 hrs and when i put in a memory card ( an old ps1 mem card ) the game froze. i doubt its the chip was overheatin (this chip is known to overheat?)
i didnt use thicker wires for the grnd and 5v points ... because.. the stinkin magic 3.5 is connected w/ clips... i cant just cut the wire from the chip. i also didnt have to use the alternative 'W' point.
the only suggestion i can give to you all that are havin problems... check the solderin points... very carefully.. make sure they are connected, i barely spotted mine. some ppl use glue to make it stick.. i used tape.
did any of u do anythin to protect the chip from overheatin? if so.. plz share info.
i do have one strange problem tho... when i press eject... 2 seconds later the tray goes bak in automatically... ?!?!?
i bent that reset wire so much i guess it took its toll.. but maybe its not it?
the problem isnt so bad since i do have enuf time to make a quick swap.
anyways, i hope i helped and i hope to get any of my questions answered.
