I had a PS2 v4 gap modded with Magic 3.1, first it play PS2 back up dvd-r games then I shut it down for about an hour and turn it back on, it won't play PS2 back up dvd-r games anymore, (PS2 back up cd-r, original dvd and cd-r play fines). My back up games had been tested with other Magic 3.1 on version 5 console and DMS3 on version 7.

I open it back up and double check to make sure none of the wire are comming loose, check for bridges and also check with a meter for continuity. I clean out the laser lense and adjust the dvd laser from 850 ohms to 1250 ohms. And guess what, this time it does load and play one of mine back up dvd-r game but the rest of my dvd-r games, you can hear it read the disc but it me the black screen. Only one load out of 70 back up dvd-r games that has been tested with other Magic 3.1 and DMS3 chips, this is odd. Could anyone tell me what wrong with my console?

I did press the reject button continuously hoping to get it load some of my dvd-r games, could this cause the problem?

first you have adjusted the laser the wrong way you have reduced it's reading capability you should adjust the dvd protentiometer to around 780 and see if that work's it seem'd from what your describing that the board or chip is not at fault but a worn out laser diode.

you have 2 option's tweak it to get it to play game's for a bit longer or replace the laser.
