Magic 3.1 Test Report
Due the well layout and the usefull information of the Astina's NH3 test report, I've decided use the same format to my Magic 3.1 report.

General Info:
Tested Unit: NTSC V6 SCPH-30001 R PS2 GH-015
Test Time: 8 Hours
Notes: 3 Operation Modes for PS2 and DVD Movie, PSX, Sleep Mode.
DVD9 Support. No tested
GS Support. No tested
DVD Region X. Tested


Install Info:
30 AWG Unicore wire for data lines
28 AWG Ribbon Multicore Wire for 5V and Ground

PS2 Mode:
Boot Method: Single Tap.

Obviously, no PS2 or PSX Backups load in Sleep mode

Conclusion:
The report talks by it self, take your own conclusion. I don't have any complains about the reability of the Magic 3.1, the boot rate was 100% (based on continues 60 times booting) and the stability in game play and DVD Playback is excellent. In adition all the backups loads flawless

Thanks for the report. Can you say more about the abnormality you mentioned on GTA VC?

Is there still a problem there with Magic 3.1?

Good work! maomo34 and thanks for praise on my NH3 test report.

I am very suprised to the 100% boot rate on Magic 3.1. At least now we can "see" some improvements from Magic development.

Regard to the Vice City, have you got any chance to test the same disc on other PS2?

Do you know if the GTA VC freezing issues have happened again? I have a DVD-R copy of GTA VC and just got a Magic 3.1, wouldn't want it to always freeze, i love that game

Opps!!, I've edited the report, was a typographic error , GTA Vice City, plays so fine whit the Magic 3.1, I just fineshed a 3 hrs session of playing rigth now and the game play like a charm. The new Magic 3.1, is a very good chip

Okay. So I'm about to Mod my PS2, and this chip appears to be the current winner.

I want a chip that will play my back-up PSX games, and, ultimately (when I have the techonology to do so) my ps2 ones as well.

The DVD-playback would also be nice, and I'm learning how to do VCDs on them.

Currently I have a virgin system.

I want a chip that will be 'no hassle' and 'no problems'. I don't want to screw up my PS2.

Would you recommend me this chip?

I have tested 8 of the new magic 3.1's so far and have not had kingdom of hearts freeze yet. Did the intro loop many have talked about and no issues. I have played vice city once for about 4 hours and no issues yet but I dont have any time to keep testing it lol.

If you will test more cdrs and CD pressed silvers you will see that magic 3.1s booting rate not 100% its bootong DVDs pressed silvers and DVDrs very good but still problem with CDs basicaly pressed silvers.

I don't see how thats TOO much of a problem since most things aren't on pressed CD silvers anymore.

pressed cd silvers aren't really that big of an issue but people will find anything to complain about if you give them the chance
