Hey all. Was about to install my magic 3.1 modchip today, but while taking the tape off of the chip, a silver piece pulled away from the chip, I am wondering if this piece is just a marking, or if it is of importance. It looked like it was glued in place, so i am not sure what to do. I would really appreciate the input of anybody, especially those who know how the magic 3.1 works and such. Pictures will be posted.

That's the clock without which the chip will not work. An expert could put it back on.

or you can pick up one with the legs, like the origa's came with, it would be a little bit easier than soldering that one back on, i hate when those things come off, i've always just ended up buying the one with legs, and soldering it, i'll try to find you a place to buy it, i got mine from digikey, i'll see if i can find their part #, or you can solder that one back on

Really appreciate all your responses guys. Now one quick question, how would i go about soldering it back on. should i solder a piece of wire inbetween the 3 contacts? or should i solder it physically to the chip? Aswell, which way is it supposed to be on the chip? And after i solder it, how would i go about testing to see whether or not it is working with a multimeter? Thanks alot guys!

The 50.0 should read like that with the smile on the bottom (I sound drunk don't I) I would try to bridge them with wire cuase looking at my old 3.0 attaching them directly looks rough.

Here is the picture after i soldered the clock piece back on. I talked with people,. and they said it was a good idea to solder back on so i did. Not the cleanest job, but it is contacting. Tell me what u think. I am not a solder pro.

That looks like it will work. BTW, for reference it doesn't matter which direction the clock is facing. I have used many of these in the past with the Nova chips and I had the outer pins in different orientations with no problems. The only thing is that the middle point is ground no matter what.
