i've just put a magic 3.1 into a version 8 (GH 22 board) and it does'nt work, just black screen.the only other chips i have lying around are,
duo,magic 5K6,and magic 50kx.
i hear neither magic 3.1 or duo chips work in a version 8,
and as far as i know the other two magic chips i have only work in versions 9/10.is this true or will i have to get another chip.
thanks.

If you place the Magic at the same location lilke the pix above, it should work. All the wires would be less than 3 inches. Wires over 4 inches seem to be problem.
I have seen black screen before:
1. If all wires correct: check solder balls around bios and DO NOT too tight the screws from the steel frame to the mobo. I got this problem on V5 after untight the screw a little, let it loose.
2. Do not put on the plastic cover yet, turn it on see if you get video.
