ya know, i put a whole 30 seconds of thought into it, and i figured out where the bulk of magic chip problems come from.
it's a given that the magic 3.1 costs half as much(or even less) than other chips out there. and it's a given that a lot of kids(yes, children) own ps2s.
when these kids save up their allowance, they're probably gonna buy the cheapest thing they can get their hands on. now while that last statement may not be an absolute fact, but you cant deny that you dont hear of a lot of messiah 2 and dms 3 users sounding like kids.
anyway, we all know kids are dumb, and screw things up. like kids thinking they need to apply tons of pressure to make the reset button work, or kids thinking they should tweak the laser for no reason even when everything works perfectly fine.
ok, so there's a market full of potential idiots, and product within their means to purchase.
and if i were a bettin man, i'd say that if the costs of the dms 3 and magic 3.1 were reversed(with the chips still beign exactly the same), you'd see almost the same amount of complaints about the dms3 as you would the magic 3.1(almost because there are actual issues every so often)
