Are points A-I the same on the messiah as they are on the magic 2? Specifically for a v4 30001R 1c system. I notice that the magic 2 doesn't have point E, but other than that, is there any difference?
thanks,
daniel

found the answer... yes they are the same
cause they are the same damn chip almost, messiah is still better IMO. check their site.
yeah, I know they are the same chip (almost)... I just didn't know if everyone was in sync on the install point lettering. The messiah doesn't work very well in NTSC otherwise I probably would have grabbed one. At least that is what I hear from people who have them, and that is the reason modchip.ca stopped carrying them.
What do you mean they don't work very well in NTSC machines? Mine works great. They however are not compatible with barely any NTSC's. Don't get me started on modchip.ca either. The messiah doesn't work very well in NTSC otherwise I probably would have grabbed one. I gotta support Someguy here. What with the Magic 2 recalls, Z points, Capacitors and the like, Messiah for the appropriate NTSC version is a dream if all you have to worry about is a switch in the V wire for PS1 backups.Originally posted by SomeGuy

You can also use the Matrix DNS which works on V7 US consoles too. It is one of the only 'true' Messiah clones with NTSC/JAP support.
all right... that's cool... I have no idea.. I just said that is what I heard... never even seen a messiah chip...
:P
Yeah, if it actually existed. You can also use the Matrix DNS which works on V7 US consoles too. It is one of the only 'true' Messiah clones with NTSC/JAP support. There is a 'rip'/'clone' of the original Messiah with a macrovision fix attached called that sometimes but it is not the MM DNS that was promised as the 'M2' at the time.
hehe... it is funny, this thread started out talking about actual physical "points" on the messiah and magic 2 and now it is talking about actual technical points about each chip.
so, do you guys think that modchip.ca dropped the messiah because they can charge more for the magic2? Does the messiah work on a v5/v6? Where can I still get one?
I am looking to mod like 3 or 4 more systems and want to get a good chip, but not spend $80-$100. Something in the $40-$60 range would be much better. Maybe I will check out one of these clones, like the mars, X0 or Matrix 2. I don't like the Magic 2 green clones (v3.0), I want something with full support. Besides, I can't find them for much less than $80 anyway.
thanks,
daniel
