Magic 2 V7 premod FREEZING?
Magic 2 V7 premod FREEZING? –
does anybody else have this problem?
MY friends ordered me a magic2 premod system from genomods.com I believe it is the real magicII modded on a V7 system.
It works fine for almost every game, EXCEPT, when playing long ingame movies...such as the intro movie to onimusha..intro movie to kingdom hearts, etc. It is not really a BIG problem, because i can skip these movies. But i would really like to see them!
When playing these long ingame movies..it will freeze sometimes, and the last second of music will forever play in an annoying loop. You guys know what im talking about...
anyways, does anybody else have this problem with a magic2?
Probably 1 1uF polarised 35v capacitor (Tantalum) placed in the S line with + to the Magic 2 will cure this. If it's the problem I'm thinking of there is electrical noise in the SCEx wire that needs to be smoothed.
hey charlie....another question
sometimes in games...like kingdom hearts, where there are long cutscenes and intervals between cutscenes....it wont exactly freeze, but when a black screen comes up (i.e. in between two cutscenes) the game will "freeze" some ambient music will still be playing...but NOTHING will happen..and i have to reboot the ps2
can this problem be attributed to that missing capacitor as well??
reason for asking is, if i get this capacitor, i will have to go out and buy a solder..and solder this shit myself...
..when the whole reason i got the magic2 premod was so i didnt have to hassle with that!!! HOW LAME
Hmmmmm, you appreciate a 'pre-mod' makes no difference whatsoever with regards to how a modchip behaves...In my experience of modding consoles its a fact that there are flaws in modchips...We are ALL guinea-pigs for the manufacturers of magic/messiah, they take the coin....we find the faults!! Unfortunately messiah seems to have bowed to the pressure of the magic chip and hastily knocked together a chip for the V7 console, surprise, surprise another revision appears and pcb fixes etc.. The real bitch here is that the installer has to explain that it isnt their soldering at fault, but an advertised miracle-cure modchip (messiah2) is to blame!!!
wow, drongo22 ...
sounds like you've got a bit of an axe to grind.
the 1uF solution on the S point has been widely known for some time.
If modders aren't using it, then maybe it is their fault.
The problem with the PS2 is that variations within the console make it very difficult for a consistent modchip. The good-ole days of the Old Crow/ REI / Mayumi are gone. Sony makes it very difficult to have a modchip that work 100%.
So on the other hand, modchip installers that make noise that the modchips that they install are THE solution for all games maybe are partially to blame.
People have to realize that circumventing Sony's copy protection isn't an exact science. If you want a game that should work 100% of the time, then perhaps you should just go out an pay for it.
couldn't agree with you more.
