Magic 2 - V2 install complete - Trouble
Magic 2 - V2 install complete - Trouble –
Finished install in on my V2 PS2 with Magic 2 V3 chip. Stats are:
SPCH - 30001
Serial - U0XXXXX
Date Code - PT10XXXX
Boardset - GH-004
Gap Rom shows - D-110-010
My problem is no video at all, the screen does flicker upon power-up once, like it does normally when you power up your PS2, except there is no picture beyond that. Tray seems to act normally, not grindy or choppy or anything. Did not try any discs.
I DID USE THE "S" POINT SHOWN AT MODCHIP.CA. This "S" point is at the top of the PCB instead of going through all the crap to remove and flip the boardset. What exactly does the "S" point do? Is this my problem?
LOD I know you are real familiar with this. Sound like the "S" point is the culprit? Other than that I used your V2 install sheet for the gap rom shown below.
Thanks guys. I look forward to any feedback.
There has got to be a short on the controller or the ROM.
This is what i heard that S is for PSX games, if your PSX mode work, then your S is ok. I have the same GH-004 board except I have a gap ROM. I use the S point on the modchip.ca, and My PSX games does work. I agree with LOD, check all your connections again, there maybe a short.
Just FYI, my PS2 is officially done for. A resistor pack burned off during the install. I just didnt see it initially because it was under a piece of tape that I was using to protect from exactly that. Piss on it anyhow, Im just going to buy a pre modded console. Will probably sell the broken PS2 and chip, since the laser and ribbon cables and whatnot are still useful.
