Magic 2 R Installation on V6: 100% Success!

Whoooooooooooooopeeeeeeeeeeeee. :D I'm so happy right now .:)

As some of you may know, I've been waiting for my dad to install my magic 2r, red pcb, for about 6 months. At first i was kind of doubtful with my Magic 2, with people saying bad things over it, and I didn't think my dad could do it. Well, everything went smoothly, and all my backups and originals played first time and everytime without a glitch, no clicking either...

Installation took a LONG time, over 5 hours, but hey, as long as it's working right? ;)

Brill. I like the Magic 2. On v5/v6s we've done with Magic 2, we also loaded DVD9 games directly 100%.

BTW i tried to play a PAL Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of Cortex PS2 cdr, and it gave me this black and white rolling screen (kinda looks like macrovision), but it was working and everything, is this normal since this is a PAL game? On other Pal games it gave me the black and white thing too, but they actually gave me a choice between 60 or 50 HZ.

if ya've got a NTSC machine, then play NTSC games :)

unless the game is only released in PAL ... other than that theres no reason to play PAL games on NTSC :)

Yeah, but is it normal for pal games to behave like that on an NTSC console? Anyone shed some light on this? I'd hate to think that my magic isn't working properly.:(

its probably a PAL optomized game.

certain PAL games just wont work on ntsc consoles, becauese its made specifically for PAL tvs/systems.

Thnx charlie. I haven't tried DVD9 yet, since i don't even have one, and i haven't tried Gameshark either, although the Z was connected & there was no sign of movies being choppy...

Do you know if the black and white thing is normal with pal games on ntsc machines? (Other games did the same thing, but they actually gave me an option between 50HZ [pal] and 60HZ[ntsc] in the game menu)

The black and white thing is overcome by using the NTSC Colour Fix as described in the Messiah 2 Install Guide (see the FAQ section).

The B&W rolling screen means your TV can't resolve 50Hz frame speed. It's an older TV thing. Not much you can do about that.

Oh... K then I guess my Magic is fine. I can do without my crash bandicoot... :D Well, back to my old happy self again! :D

BTW we just got a new TV (new model) this summer, how could it be an old TV thing? Thnx

Maybe I'm not up to date on US TVs. If you have more than one AV port then it might be one of the other ports that will resolve the 50Hz. signal that comes out when you play a PAL game. Certainly on some TVs here in Europe, one port is able to resolve 60Hz.

There are plenty of TVs inthe US that don't get the rolling so I thought a newer one would be OK. let me know.
